Updated: Sep 26, 2024

Masimanyane Women's Rights Launches Ibhola Ekhatywayo Ngamantombazana: Empowering Girls Through Soccer to Combat Gender-Based Violence.

Sports fields are still perceived as spaces primarily for boys and men. However, there is a pressing need to cocreate spaces that can foster greater social connectedness, serve as safe spaces for healing, and fully support self-expression and affirmation within communities.

"Imagine young women honing their soccer skills, discovering their passion for sports, and leading healthier, more balanced lives, unafraid and confident to take to the soccer field as equals," says Dr Leslely-Ann Foster, Executive Director of Masimanyane Women's Rights International. "The Ibhola Ekhatywayo Ngamantombazana project is more than a soccer program; it's a movement towards equality, empowerment, and positive change."
