To combat a persistent pandemic that continues to impact women and girls' lives daily, Minister Nkoana-Mashabane has published the gazetted National Council on Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (NCGBVF) Bill, 2022. This legislation is intended to ensure that the government of South Africa and the country as a whole have a multisectoral, coherent, strategic approach to addressing the crisis of Gender-Based Violence and Femicide crisis.
The legislation follows the directives of the Presidential Summit against Gender-Based Violence and Femicide, which was held on 1 and 2 November 2018, and the National Strategy against Gender-Based Violence and Femicide, which was released on 29 October 2018. Read more:
