EAST LONDON - The Ibhola Ekhatywayo Ngamantombazana festival games took place in Breidbach, King Williams Town, on Sunday 4 May.
The Westbank Eagles and Ndevana Ladies opened the grounds with 17-year-old winger Lathitha Solani and 19-year-old winger Sinothando Makhetha scoring goals for their teams, ending the game in a 1-1 draw.

Pefferville Lillies and Zwelitsha Queens played the second game and both teams scored three goals each. Fifteen-year-old striker Zukhanye Vuyelele was in top form as she scored a hat-trick for the Lillies but 12-year-old Kubobonke Gxagxa, the attacking midfielder from Zwelitsha Queens managed to score a brace for herself and 13-year-old midfielder Lutho Ngetu scoring a goal for herself to make the match 3-3.

The match for the boys kicked off right after and the Braelyn Stars didn’t have their scoring boots on as Ward 39 Sporting club from Ginsberg managed to score a goal from midfielder Lihlombe Lunguza’s (16) strike and which sealed the needed 3 points for the team.
The defending champions, Scenery Lions, faced their bitter rivals, Mdantsane United, but the game ended in a 0-0 draw and both teams secured a point each.

The hosting team, Breidbach Angels, was in high hopes as they faced All Stars Ladies FC from Dimbaza. The Angels went in to score first from a fan's favourite, Raynique Gosling (13, midfielder) but it didn't last long as the Dimbaza-based team managed to score a goal from 15-year-old striker Lilitha Dingeni and Zizibele Jimana (15, striker) to secure the three points for All Stars.

Spirits were high for the defending champions Scenery Lions, as they looked to destroy the new team from Westbank. The Westbank Eagles didn’t let the champions rest, and they held them to a 0-0 draw.

That was enough soccer madness for the day from the ladies and gents.

Make sure to catch us again at the next Festival Games scheduled for 18 May. Venue to be confirmed.
